There was a conference that presents the results of The JSPS Topic-Setting Program to Advance Cutting-Edge Humanities and Social Sciences Research (Responding to Real Society) "An Empirical Study of the Effects of Educational Investment and Cognitive Development of Children on their Outcomes as Young Adults Including Motivation to Learn, Employment, and Earnings" at Mita campus, Keio University on March 3, 2016.
First, Hideo Akabayashi of Keio University, the principal investigator of the project, explained the purpose and outline of the project, including the targets of the survey and the method to distribute the education voucher that can be used for courses provided by private companies for adult education.
First, Hideo Akabayashi of Keio University, the principal investigator of the project, explained the purpose and outline of the project, including the targets of the survey and the method to distribute the education voucher that can be used for courses provided by private companies for adult education.
Next, Chizuru Shikishima of Teikyo Univesity, co-investigator of the project, reported the empirical results that used the Keio Twin Study sample, including the determinants of educational motivation and behavior analyzed using behavioral genetic approach.
Finally, Akabayashi and Shiho Yukawa of Teikyo University, co-investigator of the project, reported the empirical results that used the Keio JCPS/Second Generation Survey (SGS) sample. The reported results included analyses that used a subsample of the SGS data with information of the ability scores collected in the previous survey conducted on the same respondents.
There was lively discussion among the presenters and the participants about the reliability and generalizability of the results as well as future possibilities to improve the quality of analysis and survey data for research with similar purposes.
